Spare Ribs With Apple Cider
















  • 2 kilos of spare ribs
  • 4 tablespoons sherry
  • 725ml stock
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 tablespoon cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoonful soya sauce
  • 1 tablespoonful sugar
  • 1 teaspoonful ginger powder
  • 2 cloves crushed garlic
  • Mix all the ingredients. 
  • Cut up the spare ribs, marinate for twenty four hours in a cool place. 
  • Roast the ribs in a pan at 350F (180C) or Gas Mark 5.

Drain off fat and finish under grill, basting with marinate, until crisp.
















Rice Salad

Add Apple cider vinegar in cooking for the added aroma.


  • 225g rice
  • 100g mushrooms
  • 100g olives
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar, salt and pepper
  • 1 sliced tomato
  • 1 cup cooked green peas
  • Cook the rice in boiling water
  • Cook until the rice is moderately soft.
  • Drain the rice through a sieve and wash with cold running water.
  • Place in a basin until it has cooled off.
  • Mix cider vinegar, pepper, salt and oil.
  • Stir gently and mix well.
  • Decorate with a sliced green pepper.
